Amy Guerra - Ballet
Amy has extensive classical ballet training, studying in her youth with the Joffrey Ballet, Maggie Black, Ballet West, Kansas City Ballet, Omaha Ballet and more. After an injury ended her ballet aspirations early in life, she is now passionate about teaching safe and proper ways to enjoy this place where movement meets art. She still enjoys taking classes herself from the wealth of local instructors, and is continually renewing her appreciation of what it is to be a student through open classes at Houston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and anywhere else she visits. Amy has traveled the world working and performing jazz, tap and ballroom on cruise ships, worked in major market radio, managed a tourism company in Alaska, started a software company, and gotten a Master’s in Business Administration from a top business school.
Amy has taught creative dance and ballet to children and adults from Texas to Alaska, has taught regionally for the past six years, has supported public broadcasting and the arts in many communities, and enjoys her own writing projects. As a parent, Amy adds parenting and childhood development classes to her teaching tools. Amy has a deep respect for the dance studio as a transformative place--mentally, emotionally, and physically--and loves to share it through classes. Her favorite dance memory is ballroom dancing with Gene Kelly!
