Opus Performing Arts continues to prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff as we start this school year co-existing with COVID-19.
If you are exposed to COVID-19:
If you are symptomatic:
If positive:
- Opus will continue to follow protocols to limit the spread of COVID-19 as established by Washington State’s Department of Health (DOH) and the Whatcom County Health Department (WCHD)
- Opus will follow the Department of Health’s symptom/exposure flowchart: https://doh.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2022-03/820-229-SymptomExposureFlowchartK12SchoolsChildCare.pdf
- Masking is optional for everyone
If you are exposed to COVID-19:
- Individuals exposed to COVID-19 may continue to come to Opus, as long as you are not symptomatic.
- DOH recommends testing after exposure, monitoring for symptoms and wearing a mask for 10 days after the last exposure.
- When there is continuous exposure in the home, testing is recommended every 1-2 days until 5 days after the last positive household member's isolation has ended.
- Opus will notify the appropriate families via email of any exposures within Opus so you are able to mask & monitor.
If you are symptomatic:
- Regardless of vaccination, you should not come to Opus if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
- You may return to Opus if you are fever-free for 24 hours, symptoms have improved and you test negative for COVID-19.
- If symptoms persist, DOH recommends re-testing every 1-2 days for 5 days after symptom onset.
If positive:
- Please notify Opus of a positive test. Opus will notify the appropriate families of any exposures.
- Any person testing positive for COVID-19 is required to isolate for five days.
- You may return on day 6 if fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved. Continue to wear a mask days 6-10. Those unable to wear a mask should complete the full 10 day isolation.
- Testing before returning is encouraged but not required. If you continue to test positive, complete the full 10 day isolation. Testing after day 10 is not recommended.
