Emmy Gockel

Emmy Gockel's 's love of dance began in her mom's class at the age of 3 and she hasn't stopped dancing since! Emmy has been so lucky to grow up learning from her mom, Kim Gockel, whom she continues to absorb knowledge from with her degree in kinesiology and anatomical approach to teaching. As a child, Emmy danced at several competition studios; studying ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop. She landed her first professional dance job at age 8, with the WNBA’s Storm Dance Troupe and performed with them for 3 seasons, including 1 championship year.
At the age of 15, she was accepted into Cornish College of the Art’s Preparatory Program to focus on higher technical training for the remainder of high school.
A Western Washington University graduate, Emmy studied ballet with Cher Carnell and was a member of the Hip Hop Team, WWUHHDT. Upon graduation, she danced professionally with 3rd Shift Dance Company (2015-2018), directed by Xaviera Vandermay and The Purple Lemonade collective (2017-2019), directed by Ron Smith. Emmy brings a positive, engaging, fun and creative environment to her classes and is so thankful to be a part of Opus!
