Tara Reiter - Ballet and Tap

A native rain-loving, coffee-fueled Washingtonian, Tara is a dancer and teacher who is passionate about fostering a desire to move and dance in her students. She graduated from Western Washington University with a BFA in Dance and and a minor in Philosophy, in which she studied such subjects as Modern, Choreography, Ballet, Creative Movement for Educators, Dance Arts in Education, Functional Alignment, and Ethical Theory. During her time at WWU, she was selected to work with international choreographers such as Amma Anang, Joachim Schlömer, and Kathy Casey. Tara’s unique performance skills have allowed her to perform in renowned works such as ‘Strict Love’ by Doug Varone and an excerpt from Caroline Laurin-Beaucage’s ‘Matière blanche’.
Since Spring 2014, Tara has kept a constant presence in the Bellingham Elementary school district, teaching children dance and theatre, while also assisting with other integrated arts in education. Her teaching has a strong emphasis on developing creative movement exploration skills and encouraging self-affirmative, decision making capabilities. Tara's goal is that her students develop their kinesthetic sense and an appetite for dance creativity and exploration. Her years of assisting and teaching the arts has helped her become the enthusiastic teacher your children crave, with the passion, patience, and humility guardians desire for their young dancers.
